10 TIPS FOR PROPER GYM ETIQUETTE
This series of posts will review gym etiquette and why it’s important. Things that may seem like common sense to do are often ignored, so let’s get some reminders, just in case. Here is tip #1!
1. PUT STUFF BACK
If you’ve gone through the maddening search of an entire gym looking for dumbbells only to find them sitting near a machine, or found that somebody left five 45 lb plates on each side of the bar so you’ve got to unload it (check to make sure they are finished first, they might have just gone to get water), then you’ll understand.
- Put the dumbbells back on the rack in proper ascending order.
- Unload your weight plates on barbells, Smith machines, and machines that use plates everytime you are finished. Don’t leave granny to struggle pulling off your 45’s.
- When you unload your plates put them correctly on the weight tree. Nobody wants to dig through 45 lb plates to get to the 10 lb plates.
- If you borrow a step, ball, kettlebell, or other item from an area, return it to that area.
