▪️Banana provides natural sweetness, the electrolyte potassium, and 3g of fiber.

▪️Cocoa is one of the richest sources of polyphenols. It’s especially abundant in flavanols, a type of polyphenol, which have strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.

SWEETHEART SMOOTHIE

Serving size: 1 smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup frozen strawberries (if using fresh, add ice cubes)
  • 1 banana
  • 3 teaspoons cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • Garnish: strawberry heart slices (see note below) and dark chocolate chips

Directions:

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender. Blend until smooth. If necessary, add in more almond milk to thin the smoothie.
  2. Garnish with strawberry hearts and/or dark chocolate chips. Fill the glass halfway, then carefully place the hearts upright around the glass. Carefully fill the rest of the glass. Too much effort? Just place one on top of your smoothie!

NOTE: To make strawberry hearts…
Pull the green stem off of the strawberry. Slice thinly lengthwise. Carefully cut the white part off the top to make a v shape, and trim as necessary to make the heart.

Want more protein? Add a little chocolate protein powder to Step 1.
