Keep Movin’ On The Holidays!

No reason to be a couch potato during the holidays. Here are 7 fun ideas of ways to get you moving!

1. If you are alone this holiday, you are never alone with the internet! Follow along with this holiday inspired at-home workout on Youtube.

2. If you’ve got a group with you, take a half hour together for a fun interactive workout. Turn on some upbeat music and have each person (adult or kid!) suggest an exercise which you all then do for 1 minute. Remember to warm-up first! Ideas could be jumping jacks, squats, crunches, planks…I guarantee your family will giggle more than ever, especially if you have kids there.

3. Bundle up and go for a holiday walk in the evening to see the lights. Don’t forget the hot apple cider!

4. Go ice skating! Whether it’s an indoor or outdoor rink, I bet you have one near you. Skating is great physical activity, it helps develop coordination and balance, and gets your heart pumping too!

5. Rent some bikes and explore a nearby park. Whether it’s snow and fat tire bikes (in everywhere but Florida this year) or (in Florida) sunshine and beach cruisers, you will have a blast

6. If you have some family members who are mobility challenged, why not play mini golf? Find a course that is holiday themed and accessible for those with disabilities.

7. Create an outdoor winter obstacle course! If you’ve got snow, it’s a great cushion if you fall but even if you don’t, this will be a lot of fun! There are kits and inflatable obstacle courses that you can buy, however they aren’t inexpensive so you may want to use your imagination on the types of obstacles you can create.
